What Is a Header Adapter?

A header adapter lets you run a header on a combine it wasn’t built for. We make three kinds, and the right one depends on how many headers you need to convert.

Faceplate Adapter

Replaces the OEM faceplate on the combine so you can hook up to a John Deere® header compatible feederhouse opening.
Recommended if you have multiple John Deere® heads.
No permanent modifications are made to the headers, which helps them keep their resale value.

Welding needed: No

Cut & Weld Kit

A modification to the feederhouse opening on a header, allowing it to accept the feederhouse of the combine.
Most commonly used when converting only one header, since you typically have other headers that already fit the combine.
A cutting torch and/or welder is required.

Adapter Plate

Latches or bolts into the feederhouse opening on a header, allowing it to accept the feederhouse of another combine.
Most commonly used when converting only one header, since you typically have other heads that already fit the combine.

Faceplate adapter

A faceplate adapter that replaces the OEM faceplate on the combine and allows the farmers to hook up to a John Deere® header compatible Feederhouse opening
This is recommended if the customer has multiple John Deere® heads
No permanent modifications are made to the headers which helps them maintain their resale value

Cut & Weld Kit

A cut & weld kit is a modification to the feederhouse opening on a header allowing it to accept the feederhouse of the combine
A cut & weld kit is most commonly used when converting only one header, as a producer typically has other headers that are already compatible with the combine
Use of a cutting torch and/or a welder will be required

Adapter Plate

An adapter plate is a modification to the feederhouse opening on a header that latches or bolts into the feederhouse opening, allowing it to accept the feederhouse of another combine.
An adapter plate is most commonly used when converting only one header, as a customer typically has other heads that are already compatible with the combine

Do I have to cut or weld my header to use an adapter?

It depends on the kit. Faceplate adapters and adapter plates bolt on and leave your header unmodified. Cut and weld kits require cutting and welding. Bolt-on and quick-attach options are available, along with hydraulic and electrical integration.

My combine and header combination isn't listed. What information do you need?

Send us the combine make, model and year, plus the header make, model and serial number. Call 402-849-2674 or email sales@bishcom.com, or use the contact form, and we'll tell you whether we have a kit for that combination.

How much does a header adapter cost?

Prices for listed kits are shown on this page and in our online shop. Our best-selling adapter kits range from about $2,800 to $8,000, depending on the combine, the header and the adapter type. For a combination that isn't listed, send us the combine and header details for a quote.

Do header adapters come with a warranty?

Yes. Bish header adapters are made in the USA and come with a one-year warranty.

Do I need a separate driveline or shaft adapter with my header adapter?

Sometimes. If the header and combine drives don't match (for example, a hex shaft on one and a spline on the other), you'll need a driveline or shaft adapter. Send us the combine and header models and we'll tell you what your setup needs. We stock hex-to-spline stub adapters, stock shafts, hex shaft collars and 1000 RPM yokes.
